Homestars.ca Reviewers like Take-A-Boo Emporium

December 22, 2006

vintage-ornaments1-small.jpgIt’s always great to hear kudos about the shop. Thanks to Cathy for the nice review on Homestars.ca.  Cathy isn’t the first to post something nice about Take-A-Boo. Sarah left a postive comment, too.

Martin and I always like to hear from satisified customers.

 Thanks ladies.

Traditional Home’s Krissa Rossbund is a Wrap Star

December 13, 2006

Loved Krissa Rossbund’s    Traditional Home feature on gift wrapping. Gift wrapping continues to reach new heights of beauty with each passing year.

The days of slapping on a Wal-Mart bow on a hastily wrapped prezzie appear to have passed.   Antique lovers wrapping tips that aren’t quite so grand as shown in the magazine can be found in an article by Martin.

Amy Pataki’s Toronto Star’s Hooray for the Hook Features Handbag Caddy

December 6, 2006

Amy Pataki’s   Hooray for the hook article in today’s Toronto Star profiled a handbag caddy that looks a lot like the Take-A-Boo handbag caddy. And yes, Amy, your purse can make you sick.  I mentioned it right here a couple of days ago.

Heard About Freddy & Ma from Debbie Weil’s VoiceAmerica Channel The Corporate Blogging Show

December 4, 2006

handbag-caddy.jpgI’ve added a Freddy & Ma handbag to my Christmas wish list.

I heard about Freddy & Ma while listening to a podcast that I downloaded to my Ipod last weekend and just got around to listening to this weekend.

It was a VoiceAmerica Channel’s (yes the same VoiceAmerica Channel that our show will appear on in Feb 2007) internet radio show The Corporate Blogging Show with Debbie Weil.  Debbie and her guestTypePad General Manager Michael Sippey talked about ”How to Get Started With A Corporate Blog.”

Michael mentioned a TypePad blog by Freddy & Ma who make custom handbags. Intrigued I checked out their site.

Can’t wait to hang a Freddy & Ma creation on my handbag caddy.

Jenny Bradley at Traditional Home features Threshold’s Kendall Wilkinson

December 3, 2006

french-leg-2-small.gifRead in the Holiday 2006 issue of Traditional Home    Jenny Bradley’s feature about Kendall Wilkinson’s shop Threshold in San Francisco. Jenny writes about the pluck it takes for Kendall to breath life into old furniture by stripping off old finishes and lacquering them in bright finishes.

My heart skipped a beat because we’re old school and believe in maintaining original finishes and the integrity of pieces.

Kudos to Kendall for her bravery.

The upside for us is that down the road, we’ll likely see these lacquered pieces in our shop when folks want to go back to a wood finish.

Downside for these folks it that these pieces lacquered, then restored have diminished in value.
